Mohammed Shami to Return to Competitive Cricket in Ranji Trophy

Mohammed Shami, the Indian pacer, is set to make his comeback to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy after recovering from an injury. He will feature in the match against Madhya Pradesh starting on November 13 in Indore.

Layoff from National Team

Shami has not played for India since the World Cup final in November 2023, marking the end of his prolonged rehabilitation period. Initially, he underwent surgery to address an Achilles heel injury, and later suffered a setback due to knee swelling, delaying his comeback.

Fitness a Concern

Although Shami has been training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, his fitness level remains a concern, with his inclusion in the ongoing five-test tour of Australia uncertain.

Current Squad

Shami has not been named in the announced Test squad for Australia, raising doubt about his participation in the tour, which begins on November 22. However, if his fitness issues don't worsen, he may still be considered for selection.
