India Stuns South Africa to Take 2-1 Lead in Johannesburg

India secured an 11-run win over South Africa, taking an unassailable 2-1 lead in the T20I series. The victory was heavily reliant on Tilak Varma's outstanding performance, who made a maiden T20I century.

Tilak Varma Shines with Maiden Century

Varma's unbeaten 107 off 58 deliveries was the highlight of the Indian innings, which totaled 219/6. He shared a scintillating opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma (50 off 25), using the PowerPlay to their advantage. Varma continued to play sensibly, maximizing the boundaries with ease.

The Indian tail-enders faltered after Sharma's dismissal, but Varma remained defiant, securing valuable runs for the team.

South Africa's Late Charge Falls Short

In response, South Africa's Marco Jansen (54 off 17) and Heinrich Klaasen (41 off 22) threatened to take the game away, but Arshdeep Singh's brilliant bowling sealed the win for India.

Arshdeep's exceptional 18th over killed the game for South Africa, conceding just 8 runs while dismissing Klaasen.

Varun CV Takes Three Wickets

Varun CV was another standout performer, taking three crucial wickets, including two in the final over, to close out the game for India.

Arshdeep Reaches 90 T20I Wickets

Arshdeep's impressive display also included the milestone of taking his 90th T20I wicket, surpassing Jasprit Bumrah's tally and moving into joint-second place on the list of most wickets for India in the format.
