Breakthrough likely for CT fiasco: Hybrid model on the horizon

A breakthrough to the Champions Trophy impasse may finally be in sight. The protracted dispute, which has prolonged for over a month, appears to be nearing closure. An announcement is expected soon.

In all likelihood, the tournament will follow a hybrid model, with India playing their matches in a third venue. The host country is uncertain, with Sri Lanka and the UAE being considered. The UAE is expected to host 10 of the 15 matches, including three India league matches and two knockout games.

The Champions Trophy controversy snowballed into a major crisis after the BCCI announced that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan for the matches, tentatively scheduled from February 19 to March 9. This triggered a tripartite standoff involving the ICC, BCCI, and PCB.
