Mumbai Indians Notch First Win in WPL 2025

Mumbai Indians finally got on the board with a convincing five-wicket win over Gujarat Giants in Vadodara on Tuesday (February 18). The win was led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, who followed up her game-changing PowerPlay spell with a half-century to take her side over the line with 3.5 overs to spare.

Gujarat Giants Collapse in PowerPlay

Gujarat Giants lost their star-studded top-four inside the PowerPlay, and from 28/4 it was a series of poor shot-selection that led to their downfall despite a fighting 32 from Harleen Deol. Nat Sciver-Brunt triggered the PowerPlay collapse after Mumbai put GG in, striking on just the second ball of the night to send Beth Mooney packing cheaply.

Mumbai's Chase Led by Sciver-Brunt

Mumbai's chase was led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, who notched up her second successive fifty of the season in as many games to make it a comfortable chase. She was supported by Amelia Kerr, who chipped in with 13 runs, and a 45-run stand between Sciver-Brunt and Kerr took MI close to the target.

Key Wickets for Mumbai

Key wickets for Mumbai included Hayley Matthews (3-16), Amelia Kerr (2-22), and Nat Sciver-Brunt (2-26). For Gujarat Giants, Kashvee Gautam took 2-15, while Priya Mishra took 2-40.

Brief Scores

Gujarat Giants: 120 all out in 20 overs (Harleen Deol 32, Kashvee Gautam 20)
Mumbai Indians: 122/5 in 16.1 overs (Nat Sciver-Brunt 57)
