RCB's Wait for First Home Win Continues

RCB's home woes continued as they suffered their third straight loss at the hands of Gujarat Giants, led by Ashleigh Gardner. The Giants chased a modest 126 and achieved the target with 21 balls to spare.

Gardner's Dominant Knock

Ashleigh Gardner played a crucial role in the Giants' win, scoring 58 off 43 balls. She started with a boundary and then took full toll on the bowling change, welcoming Prema Rawat with 4,4,4,6. Gardner also smashed back-to-back sixes off Georgia Wareham to bring up her fifty in style.

RCB's Poor Batting Display

RCB's batting display was poor from the start. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge was trapped leg-before-wicket in the second over, and Ellyse Perry hit one short ball straight to square leg in the second over. Smriti Mandhana fell when she tried to break free, and RCB were in desperate need of a partnership to revive themselves.

Key Moments

  • Renuka Singh's excellent spell saw her dismiss Beth Mooney and Richa Ghosh.
  • Gardner dropped a dolly off Raghvi Bist, but the stand was broken soon after.
  • Kanika Ahuja and Raghvi Bist took on Priya Mishra for 18 runs in an over to give the run rate a much-needed boost.
  • Ahuja departed in the following over, and RCB's innings floundered real quick thereafter.

Brief Scores

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 125/7 in 20 overs (Kanika Ahuja 33; Tanuja Kanwar 2/16, Deandra Dottin 2/31)
  • Gujarat Giants: 126/4 in 16.3 overs (Ashleigh Gardner 58, Phoebe Litchfield 30*; Renuka Singh 2/24)
  • Result: Gujarat Giants won by 6 wickets
