New IPL Rules for 2024 Season

Family Members in Dressing Rooms

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new rule that prohibits family members of players and support staff from entering the dressing room, even on practice days. They are allowed to watch team practice from the hospitality area.

Team Bus Travel

It is mandatory for players to travel by the team bus, with teams allowed to travel in two batches. This rule applies to all teams, including Team India, who have been instructed to follow it during international matches.

Fitness Tests

Fitness tests on players cannot be conducted on the main square during match days. The BCCI has also stated that players must wear Orange and Purple caps for at least two overs.

Practice Area Regulations

  • Teams will get 2 nets in the practice area and 1 side wicket on the main square for range hitting.
  • No open nets will be allowed.
  • If one team finishes practice early, the other team cannot use the wickets.
  • No practice will be allowed on match days.
  • No fitness tests will take place on the main square on match days.

Accreditation and Security

  • Accredited staff must bring their accreditation on match day.
  • Failure to do so will result in a warning on the first instance and a monetary fine on the second instance.
  • Only 12 accredited support staff will be permitted on match days, including the team doctor.

Post-Match Presentation

  • Players must not wear sleeveless jerseys during post-match presentation ceremonies.
  • Failure to do so will result in a warning on the first instance and a financial penalty on the second instance.
