Matthew Wade Joins Gujarat Titans as Assistant Coach for IPL 2025

Former Australia keeper-bat Matthew Wade is set to return to the Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025, this time in a coaching capacity. The 37-year-old will serve as Assistant Coach, joining a backroom staff that includes Head Coach Ashish Nehra, Batting Coach Parthiv Patel, and Assistant Coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi.

Wade, who retired from international cricket in October 2023, previously played 12 games for the Titans across two seasons (2022 and 2024), scoring 161 runs. His transition into coaching began immediately after his retirement, where he worked under Andre Borovec during a T20I series against Pakistan.

The Gujarat Titans, who joined the IPL in 2022, have seen mixed results. They reached the finals in their first two seasons, winning the title in 2022. However, last season saw a significant drop in performance, with the team winning only five of their 14 league games and finishing eighth in the standings.

This appointment is seen as a move to bolster the team's preparations ahead of IPL 2025, with Wade bringing his experience as both a player and a coach to the table.
