Jon Lewis Leaves Role as England Women's Head Coach

Jon Lewis has left his role as England Women's head coach, the England & Wales Cricket Board announced in a press release on Friday (March 21). The ECB also stated in the release that they will update their plans for a new head coach in time.

Tenure and Achievements

Having taken over the role in November 2022, Lewis oversaw 52 victories for England across 73 games they played in during his tenure. This left England second behind only Australia in T20Is and ODIs in the ICC rankings.

Performance in Major Competitions

England were unable to win the Ashes in 2023 at home in a 8-8 multi-format series draw while they were thumped Down Under in a 16-0 drubbing earlier this year. England also failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Women's T20 World Cup last year.

Reflections from Jon Lewis

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as England Women's Head Coach. Unfortunately I won't be able to finish this incredibly challenging but enjoyable job of developing this young team, whilst winning and growing the women's game in this country.

"I have worked tirelessly with this group of young players to develop their skills and understanding of modern-day white ball cricket, whilst still making good progress in 2024, winning 83% of all our games…and I am determined to continue to help drive women's cricket forward in whatever comes next for me," Lewis said.
