BCB Commences Investigation After Controversy in Domestic Competition

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has initiated an investigation into the Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2024-25 match between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.

Incident Details

  • The match was played on 9 April 2025 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
  • Lower-order batter Rahim Ahmed failed to return to his crease after being beaten by left-arm spinner Nihad Uz Zaman in the 36th over.
  • Minhajul Abedin Sabbir also failed to return to his crease after missing a drive in the 44th over.

BCB Statement

The BCB has released a statement reiterating its commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and maintaining the highest ethical standards in cricket.

  • "The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and the League's Technical Committee have promptly initiated an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with the match."

Investigation

  • Both cricketers (Naeem and Sabbir) were summoned to the academy ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium for questioning.
  • ACU officials attempted to reconstruct the controversial dismissal using cameras positioned on either side of the central wicket.
