Clinical MI swat aside SRH to storm into top-four
Mumbai Indians have gone W W W W to shrug off their slow start and storm into the top-four. The last of those Ws has come at the home of last year's finalists – Sunrisers Hyderabad, whose batting continued to deflate them.
Heinrich Klaasen put out the early fires and scored 71 (44) but his singular effort was not enough to defy the visitors, who chased down SRH's 143/8 in the 16th over, through a masterful 70 (46) from Rohit Sharma.
PowerPlay: Worst start of the season for SRH
SRH endured another shocking start to a game, losing four early wickets to be 24/4 in the PowerPlay. The team's worst PowerPlay score of the season, it set the tone for a disappointing outing.
Middle-overs: Heinrich Klaasen leads the fight
Klaasen's 71 and a 99-run stand with Abhinav Manohar allowed SRH to avoid the ignominy of getting sub-100 total. However, MI's bowlers kept a check on the run-making, and SRH's revival was eventually stifled.
Death-overs: Klaasen pushes but MI wrap up well
Klaasen got a six off the fifth ball of the 19th over, but Bumrah's excellent over and wicket of Klaasen left SRH down to 134/6. Boult picked two more wickets and conceded nine in the 20th over to keep SRH down to 143/8.
PowerPlay: Rohit & MI fly early
Rohit Sharma went after Cummins and Unadkat in two overs worth 30 runs, setting the tone for MI's chase. The resurgent MI continued their gallop through the middle-overs, with Rohit notching up back-to-back IPL fifties.
Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 143/8 in 20 overs (Heinrich Klaasen 71, Abhinav Manohar 43; Trent Boult 4-26, Deepak Chahar 2-12) lost to Mumbai Indians 146/3 in 15.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 70, Suryakumar Yadav 40*) by 7 wickets
