Dhaliwal, Buttar keep Canada unbeaten before semis

Captain Navneet Dhaliwal scored 68 off 41 deliveries to lead Canada to a 14-run victory over USA. Dhaliwal was cautious during the PowerPlay but later hit several sixes against USA's spinners. Shreyas Movva and Harsh Thaker also contributed with timely runs, helping Canada post a competitive total of 184. Canada's pacers, especially Jaskaran Singh Buttar, were crucial in restricting USA's chase. Buttar's ability to extract reverse swing from the 12th over onwards put brakes on USA's momentum.

Dhaliwal and Samra ace PowerPlay

Ali Nadeem started the innings with a six off Saurabh Netravalkar. Dhaliwal then dominated Ali Sheikh, hitting him for a couple of boundaries. Sheikh dismissed Nadeem with a direct hit, but Yuvraj Samra hit three boundaries in the sixth over off Netravalkar, helping Canada reach 54 for 1 at the end of the PowerPlay.

Dhaliwal makes spinners pay

Dhaliwal hit Akilesh Bodugum for a six over cow corner. Yasir Mohammad dismissed Samra, but Movva hit two sixes off Sheikh. Yasir then got Movva out, but Thaker smashed two sixes off Yasir. Dhaliwal continued his aggressive innings, hitting two more sixes off Bodugum. He was dismissed for 66, two runs short of his highest T20I score. Jessy Singh and Netravalkar bowled economically at the death, restricting Canada to 184.

USA's chase falters

Sai Teja Mukkamalla started USA's innings with two boundaries off Kaleem Sana. Shayan Jahangir then hit Sana for 17 runs in the first over. Jahangir continued his aggressive approach, hitting Sana for two more boundaries. However, Harsh Thaker took two wickets in two overs, dismissing Mukkamalla and Jahangir.

Reverse swing for the win

Canada re-introduced Buttar in the 12th over, and he started extracting reverse swing. Buttar dismissed Aaron Jones and Akhil Kumar, putting USA on the back foot. Sanjay Krishnamurthy tried to keep USA in the hunt, scoring 24 off 18 balls, but he was eventually dismissed. Buttar finished with 2 for 34, helping Canada secure a comfortable victory.
