Krunal Credits Kohli's Energy for Match-Winning Knock
Krunal Pandya has credited Virat Kohli's infectious energy for his match-winning innings against Delhi Capitals. The pair stitched a 119-run stand off 84 balls for the fourth wicket, with Krunal contributing more than 60 percent of the runs.
Krunal's knock was a turnaround from a slow start, where he was even hit on the helmet by Dushmantha Chameera. However, a flick off the pads against the fast bowler in the next over unshackled him, and he went on to hit a total of five fours and four sixes.
Krunal's Approach to Batting
"I think when I batted the first 20 balls, I got hit on the helmet also. But again, that attitude of not giving up and believing that you can't give up and you'll make a comeback. I guess with skill, mentally if you're strong enough, eventually you'll make it," Krunal said.
"The sport we play, I've learned one thing in so many years, that there are more failures than good days. So I've learned a lot from that as well. You know, you should never give up and make sure that you keep getting better. So when you get an opportunity and it's your day, you implement that into the match and win the match for your side."
Virat's Praise for Krunal
"He was outstanding today with the bat," Virat said of Krunal. "He can make that impact and we were waiting for him to kind of come into this tournament with the bat as well, and it was his day and he was absolutely brilliant."
Virat's Approach to Run-Chases
"Whenever there's a chase on or there's a situation I go in, I keep checking with the dugout whether we are on course, what's my role, what is the kind of innings I need to play," he told the broadcaster in a sideline interview.
"What are the things he keeps in mind during a run-chase? "Well, the total on the board, what the conditions are like, who are the bowlers that are due to bowl, who are the bowlers who are going to be hard to get away. So I try and make sure that my singles and doubles don't stop, and then you keep getting the odd boundary in between so that the game never gets stagnant. That's been my focus always, to keep working on rotating strike, singles and doubles."
