SRH Overcome PowerPlay Struggles by Honing in on Good Lengths
Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) chances of progressing in the league phase were dwindling, with only four matches left to play. Their batting had been inconsistent, while their bowling had been a major concern. The team's biggest issue was taking early wickets, with a poor economy rate (ER) of 10.65 in the Powerplay.
In their match against Delhi, SRH's new ball bowlers, Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat, stuck to Test match lengths, exploiting the extra bounce and hold on the wicket. Cummins got Karun Nair out with a good length ball that nipped away slightly, and Unadkat followed suit with a similar delivery. The duo's strategy paid off, as they conceded only six runs in the first two overs.
Cummins and Unadkat continued to bowl good lengths, with Cummins getting Abishek Porel out with a similar delivery in his third over. Harshal Patel closed off the PowerPlay with a slower delivery from a length that gripped, dismissing Axar Patel.

In the PowerPlay, SRH bowled 35 of the 36 balls at a length or short of good length, with only one ball pitched up. Cummins and Unadkat ended with figures of 1 for 32 in eight overs, the most economical spell by opening bowlers this season.
