
South Africa Players' Return from IPL Remains Open-Ended
CSA Backtracks on May 26 Deadline
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has softened its stance on the return of South African players from the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 18. Hours after head coach Shukri Conrad declared that "We want our players back on the 26th," CSA clarified that negotiations are underway between the South African board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Negotiations Underway
CSA Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe confirmed that the matter is being finalized by higher authorities. "Yes, we want the Test players back on 26th, but hence I say the matter is getting finalised by higher-ups," Nkwe said.
IPL Schedule Extended
The BCCI has extended the IPL season till June 3, with the final scheduled for June 3. The previous final date was May 25.
WTC Final Squad
Eight South African players have been selected for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, to be played between South Africa and Australia at Lord's from June 11. The squad will assemble in Arundel (England) on May 31 and play a warm-up match against Zimbabwe from June 3-6.
Timeline Change
Nkwe hinted at a change in the timeline, stating that the squad will resume training on June 3.
