BCB Directors Vote to Remove Faruque Ahmed
Eight out of 10 directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have submitted a formal no-confidence letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, seeking the immediate removal of BCB President Faruque Ahmed.
The directors have accused Faruque of being an autocratic leader, violating the BCB constitution, and engaging in financial mismanagement. They claim he has consistently bypassed board members, made key decisions unilaterally, and created a climate of fear, favoritism, and undue interference in national team affairs and domestic cricket.
The letter highlights several specific issues, including the recent sacking of head coach Chandika Hathurusingha without board approval, and the handing of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to a company owned by a fellow board director without a transparent bidding process.
The signatories include several prominent elected and regular directors of the board, including Mahbubul Alam, Kazi Enam Ahmed, Fahim Sinha, Salahuddin Chowdhury, Iftikhar Rahman, Saifur Alam, Swapan Chowdhury, and Manjur Alam. Only Akram Khan among the current board directors did not sign against Faruque.
