Ebadot Returns to International Cricket After Two-Year Injury Ordeal
Bangladeshi fast bowler Ebadot Hossain is set to return to international cricket after a two-year absence due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. He sustained the injury during a home series against Afghanistan in 2023 and underwent five surgeries to recover.
Recovery Process
Ebadot's recovery process was challenging, with five surgeries on different spots of his knee. He spent 16 months out of action, but is now ready to make a comeback. "It was quite challenging," he said. "I had surgeries on five different spots of my knee. The recovery process was long and difficult."
Return to Bowling
Ebadot started bowling again in the National Cricket League (NCL) and later in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He has now overcome his knee issues and can bowl in full rhythm. "I can bowl in full rhythm," he said. "The way Nathan (Kelly) trained me in India, the program he designed for me increased my strength in the knee and removed the fear from my head."
Pressure or Motivation
Ebadot feels motivated by the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) investment in his recovery. "I can still dream of playing because of the BCB management," he said. "They never let me feel that I am out of the team environment. Alhamdulillah, still they are maintaining it."
Pace Attack
Ebadot believes that the Bangladeshi pace bowlers have made significant improvements in the last two years. "There has been a healthy competition among the fast bowlers since 2022," he said. "It is definitely a good sign for the team."
Return to International Cricket
Ebadot is set to return to international cricket with the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. He is ready to face the challenges of the flat wickets in Sri Lanka. "You have to face challenges in every pitch of the world," he said. "So, no matter how the wicket is, we, the fast bowlers, spinners and the batters, have to face the challenges."
