Mehidy Hasan on Sudden Captaincy Change

Interview Excerpts

Mehidy Hasan, the newly appointed ODI captain of Bangladesh, spoke about the sudden change in captaincy, replacing Najmul Hossain Shanto.

On the Decision
Mehidy stated that he was informed about the decision by BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin, and that he doesn't know how the captaincy was decided. He believes that all players are prepared mentally for any situation.

Relationship with Najmul Hossain Shanto
Mehidy shares a good rapport with Shanto, who played with and under him at different age-group levels. He reckoned that Shanto will not have a problem playing under him again.

Impact on the Dressing Room
Mehidy believes that the change in captaincy will not have an effect on the dressing room. He stated that they are all playing for the country and that these things won't bother them. He also mentioned that he and Shanto have been playing together since their Under-15s and that they want to take Bangladesh forward, regardless of who is the captain.

On Taking Bangladesh Forward
Mehidy emphasized that they have to play as a team and that their senior players brought them to a stage, and now they want to take the team further. He hopes that they can get over their current bad time quickly.
