Fraser-McGurk, Bartlett fire San Fransico Unicorns to second successive win
Jake Fraser-McGurk smashed 88 off 38 balls, followed by Xavier Bartlett's 4-fer, as San Fransico Unicorns secured their second straight victory in MLC 2025. They defeated Los Angeles Knight Riders by 32 runs in a high-scoring match in California.
Unicorns, batting first, lost Tim Seifert early but Finn Allen and Fraser-McGurk dominated the powerplay. Shadley van Schalkwyk was particularly punished, conceding four sixes in the fifth over.
Allen and Fraser-McGurk put on 121 runs for the second wicket in just 54 balls before Allen was dismissed by Narine for 52. Despite Fraser-McGurk's continued onslaught, van Schalkwyk and Ali Khan restricted the scoring rate. Haris Rauf added late boundaries and a six to help Unicorns reach 219 for 8.
LAKR's reply was hampered by early losses of Andre Fletcher and Alex Hales. Unmukt Chand kept them in the hunt with a 32-ball 53, but Unicorns kept Matthew Tromp in check. Liam Plunkett, Broady Couch, and Hassan Khan (who later became expensive) stifled the scoring rate in the middle overs, conceding only 37 runs in six overs.
Sunil Narine briefly accelerated the scoring with a few sixes and boundaries, but the target proved too steep. Rauf and Bartlett took four wickets each to bowl out LAKR for 187, securing another comfortable win for Unicorns.
