West Indies Clinch 1-0 Series Win Over Ireland

West Indies secured a 1-0 series win over Ireland in the three-match T20I series, thanks to a blistering 91 off 44 balls by Evin Lewis and a 22-ball 49* on his T20I debut from Keacy Carty.

West Indies' Impressive Total

Lewis and fellow opener Shai Hope posted a 122-run stand for the first wicket, setting the base for West Indies' imposing total of 256 for 5. Lewis' knock was laced with eight sixes and seven boundary hits, while Hope fell soon after a quick half-century.

Carty's Debut Knock

Keacy Carty hung around, hitting four sixes and as many boundaries, while Jason Holder chipped in a handy 13-ball 18 and Romario Shepherd was more destructive in his six-ball cameo worth 19.

Ireland's Struggle

Ireland struggled for a breakthrough for more than half the innings, with Matthew Humphreys finishing with impressive figures of 2 for 16. Holder then struck early with the ball to take out home team's captain Paul Stirling for just 13.

Middle Order Collapse

Holder (2-49) and Akeal Hosein (3-27) ran through the middle order, triggering a collapse of 4 for 25 which stalled Ireland's progress further. Mark Adair fought till the end, smashing four maximums in his 14-ball cameo of 31 not out, but the target proved too tall a mountain to climb for the hosts.

Brief Scores

  • West Indies: 256/5 in 20 overs (Evin Lewis 91, Shai Hope 51, Keacy Carty 49*; Matthew Humphreys 2-16)
  • Ireland: 194/7 in 20 overs (Ross Adair 48, Harry Tector 38, Mark Adair 31*; Jason Holder 2-49, Akeal Hosein 3-27)
