Shubman Gill Ready to Lead India in Tests, Says Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian spinner, has expressed his confidence in Shubman Gill's ability to lead the team in Tests. Gill will be the 37th Indian Test captain, and Kuldeep believes he is ready for the job.
"As you have seen, Shubman knows how to lead the team," Kuldeep said. "He has worked under a lot of seniors and has been in discussions with Rohit Sharma. I am sure he has learnt a lot. As a leader, he is very motivated."
Kuldeep also acknowledged that the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be missed, but believes it's an opportunity for the youngsters to settle down in the team.
"When there are no seniors, there is always a shortage. But, it is an opportunity for the youngsters to perform well. They have a chance to settle in the team. That is very important."
The spinner also spoke about the intra-squad match between India and India A, which is being played behind closed doors in Beckenham. He praised the top order of both teams for their batting and the seamers for their bowling.
Preparations for England Conditions
Kuldeep gave some insight into what a spinner could be looking for in England's seam-friendly conditions. He believes that the wickets will be good and if the conditions are sunny, it will be helpful for the spinners.
"It is important to know what mindset you are going with," Kuldeep said. "I hope that the wickets will be good and if you look at the conditions, if it is sunny as it has been in the last 3-4 days, and if the wickets are like this, it will be helpful for the spinners."
