England's 465 keeps India at bay on Day 3

Harry Brook's 99 off 112 deliveries and useful contributions from Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, and Brydon Carse helped England reach 465, just six runs shy of India's total, on Day 3 of the first Test in Leeds.

Brook and Smith were positive at the start of the second session, with Brook playing a falling-away scoop shot off Jadeja for a boundary. India took the second new ball, but England's batsmen continued to score freely, with Brook entering the 90s in style, smashing a six over long on off Siraj.

Woakes played a confident off drive for a four off Bumrah after the drinks break, and Prasidh Krishna's short-ball ploy eventually worked as Smith was caught in the deep. Brook was eventually bowled by Prasidh on 99, and Woakes struck a four off Prasidh to help England past the 400 mark.

Bumrah picked up the last two wickets to finish with a fifer, but England got 138 runs in 23.4 overs bowled after Lunch, with 240 runs coming for their last six wickets.
