India's Lead Swells Past 300 after Twin Tons
Rishabh Pant's second century of the game and KL Rahul's ninth Test ton have put India firmly in control of the Headingley Test. Their spectacular partnership kept England at bay for most of Day 4, with India's lead now standing at 304 with four sessions remaining.
The opening session was watchful, especially after Shubman Gill's early dismissal. However, the second session saw runs flow freely, with Josh Tongue coming under pressure from Pant and Rahul. Pant smashed two sixes in an over against Shoaib Bashir, signaling his intentions. He then added 27 runs off the next 11 balls, putting England on the backfoot.
Rahul brought up a wonderful hundred, while Pant moved into the nineties and eventually became only the second keeper in history to register two hundreds in a single Test match. After reaching his century, Pant punished Joe Root with three fours and a six in a single over. He was eventually dismissed, but not before taking India's lead past 300.
