SA20 Season 4 Player Auction Details

The SA20 player auction for the fourth season will be held in Johannesburg on September 9. The salary purse has been increased to USD 2.3 million each, with a minimum of 72 slots across six teams available for grabs.

Retentions and Squad Composition

Franchises are allowed up to six retentions or pre-signed players, with no more than three overseas players among them. A franchise can sign a maximum of seven overseas players in their 18-member squad, with a minimum of 11 slots reserved for local talent.

Wild Card Signing and RTM Cards

Each team will have a wild card signing available, which can be a South African or foreign cricketer. The league will also introduce the Right To Match (RTM) card, allowing a franchise to match a winning auction bid on a player who played for that team in the preceding season.

Changes to the Auction Process

The Rookie Draft has been removed, and franchises are now required to sign a minimum of two Under-23 players in their final 19-player squads.

Auctioneer and Season Schedule

Richard Madley will continue to be the auctioneer, and the fourth season is scheduled to kick off on Boxing Day, December 26.
