Rassie van der Dussen to Lead SA in T20I Tri-Series

Rassie van der Dussen will captain a new-look South African squad in the upcoming T20I tri-series in Harare, featuring New Zealand and Zimbabwe. Van der Dussen takes the reins in the absence of skipper Aiden Markram and other regulars, who have been rested as part of their workload management.

The squad includes exciting young opener Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who topped the run charts in SA20 this year, and Corbin Bosch, who will make his T20I debut. Rubin Hermann and Senuran Muthusamy, who impressed in the SA20, are also part of the uncapped players picked for this series.

Pacers Nandre Burger and Gerald Coetzee return to the squad after recovering from long-term injuries, while Dewald Brevis is set to make his return after almost two years.

This series marks the start of South Africa's preparation for next year's T20 World Cup, according to coach Shukri Conrad. "With several senior players rested, it creates space for these players to step in and show what they can offer, and bring them into contention for World Cup selection," Conrad said.
