Sri Lanka Take the Ascendancy as Nissanka Slams Ton

Sri Lanka's Strong Position

Sri Lanka moved to a strong position by Stumps, having reached 290/2, with a lead of 43 runs. Pathum Nissanka was unbeaten on 146, while Dinesh Chandimal fell in the closing moments of the day for 93.

Bangladesh's First Innings

Bangladesh was bundled out for 247, with Shadman Islam scoring 46 and Mushfiqur Rahim scoring 35. Sonal Dinusha took 3 wickets for 22, while Asitha Fernando took 3 wickets for 51.

Sri Lanka's Reply

Sri Lanka began their reply in a solid fashion, with openers Nissanka and Lahiru Udara putting on an 80-plus partnership. Nissanka and Udara handled the Bangladesh bowlers with ease, striking regular boundaries. The opening stand, worth 88, came to an end in the third over of the second session when Taijul got Udara out leg-before.

Nissanka's Ton

Nissanka brought up a fine hundred with a four off the same pacer, Rana. He was struck on his helmet by a well-directed bouncer from Rana at the start of the third session, but continued unperturbed after a change of the head gear.
