Jon Lewis Parts Ways with UP Warriorz After Mixed Three-Year Stint

Jon Lewis, head coach of UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League (WPL), has parted ways with the franchise after a three-year stint. The franchise announced the news on social media on Friday (June 27).

Lewis, a former English fast bowler, had initial success with the Warriorz, guiding the team to a third-place finish in 2023. However, the team struggled in the following seasons, finishing 4th in 2024 and last in 2025.

The team's poor performances were attributed to injuries to key players and the introduction of a new captain, Deepti Sharma, in 2025. Despite this, the Warriorz hold the record for the highest total in WPL history, scoring 225 for 5 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this year.

During his time with the Warriorz, Lewis also served as head coach of England's Women's team, a role he held from November 2022. However, he stepped down from the position in March following the team's poor performance in the Women's Ashes.
