Daren Sammy, West Indies head coach, questioned the consistency of TV umpire Adrian Holdstock during the second day of the Barbados Test.
-
Sammy met with match referee Javagal Srinath to discuss his concerns about two key decisions that went against the West Indies.
-
The first controversy involved Roston Chase being given out lbw to Pat Cummins. West Indies believed the spike on UltraEdge indicated an inside edge.
-
The second incident saw Shai Hope given out after a catch by Alex Carey. Replays suggested the ball might have touched the ground, but Holdstock ruled Carey had his fingers underneath it.
-
Sammy stated, "I'm just saying, judge what you see. If you see the same thing and one is not out, there is even more doubt on the other than you give it out. Again, I don't know what he's seen but from the images that we've seen, the decisions are not fair enough for both teams."
-
Sammy acknowledged that his frustration stemmed from previous instances involving Holdstock. He expressed a desire for clarity regarding the umpiring process.
-
Mitchell Starc, Australian bowler, also mentioned a moment earlier in the day when they believed Chase should have been out lbw, but the decision was not overturned.
-
Starc noted, "There's been some interesting ones… One for us [against Chase] looked like there was a gap between the bat and the ball, it cost us 40-odd runs, but then a contentious one to then get the wicket."
