Prasidh Krishna Targets Better Lengths, Lower Economy
Prasidh Krishna is keen to address his economy rate of 5.07 after 90 overs in Tests. In the Headingley defeat, he went at 6.28, and Shardul Thakur at 5.56. As change bowlers, neither could sustain pressure.
"I'm definitely looking to bowl a maiden and not give away boundaries. The outfield at Headingley was fast, and my lengths and lines were not perfect. I'm happy to do what it takes to get a wicket, but I want to keep my economy down and build pressure."
Krishna bowled an unusually high number of short balls, conceding at 7.54. He admitted to overcompensating due to his reluctance to float balls up for easy drives.
"I was a little too short than where I wanted to be. The ideal length is 6-8 meters. I didn't bowl the lengths I wanted, and not wanting to float it up is one of the reasons."
With Jasprit Bumrah set to miss at least two Tests, Krishna will have greater responsibility in attack and defence. He believes the team's culture of learning from each other will help.
"We're learning off each other, no matter who's there. I've been part of this team for a few years, so the conversations are still going on. We're excited for the opportunity to be here."
Krishna will also be expected to contribute more with the bat, following India's twin collapses at Headingley. He is conscious of the need to put a higher price on his wicket.
"As lower-order batsmen, we're working on it. We're putting in the work in the nets, and it's about trusting ourselves and being there at the crease for a little longer."
