No Immediate Plan to Delay BCB Elections Despite Constitution Overhaul

Bangladesh Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud stated that there is no plan to delay the BCB elections scheduled for October, despite the ongoing process of changing the BCB constitution.

The National Sports Council formed a committee on June 24 to prepare recommendations for updating the constitutions and affiliation policies of federations under the NSC. The committee, headed by the Additional Secretary (Sports-1) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been directed to submit its report within 30 working days.

Asif Mahmud emphasized the importance of decentralization, stating that it should be done in a way that causes no harm to stakeholders. He added that the constitution should be changed through a constitutional process and proper stakeholders' consultation.

Regarding the BCB election, Asif Mahmud suggested that it depends on the process of changing the constitution. While there is currently no reason to delay the election, he acknowledged that the situation may change by October and that they may need to consult with the ICC if necessary.

The Youth and Sports Advisor reiterated that the goal is to conduct the BCB election on time.
