Hasaranga Credits Fielding for Turnaround in First ODI

Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has credited his side's fielding efforts for their 77-run win over Bangladesh in the opening ODI. Hasaranga praised the fielding display, particularly Milan Rathnayake's flat throw from the deep square to run out Najmul Hossain, and Janith Liyanage's stunning catch at mid-off.

"We have shown that how we can change games with our fielding and this game is a further proof for that," Hasaranga said. "That run out from Milan changed the game, and then Janith Liyanage pulled off a stunner and that turned the game in our favour."

Hasaranga also praised the batting unit, saying they are going in the right direction under the leadership of Charith Asalanka. "He has a knack to get the best out of his batting partners. He has been key for our success and he has been amongst runs for us in the last 18 months or so," he said.

Hasaranga completed his 100th ODI wicket on the eighth anniversary of his international debut, and is happy to have contributed to the team's success despite several injury setbacks.
