Day 4, Edgbaston
Shubman Gill scored a double century and a hundred in the same Test, becoming only the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to achieve this feat. India's lead swelled to 484 at Tea.
Gill and Rishabh Pant added 110 runs for the third wicket, followed by a 68-run stand between Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. India scored 127 runs in the second session at a rate of 4.23.
Gill surpassed Virat Kohli's record for most runs in a debut series as India Test captain. He also broke Gavaskar's record for the highest aggregate for an Indian in a Test.
Earlier, Brydon Carse troubled India's batters with bounce and movement. KL Rahul edged early on, but the ball flew past slip. Karun Nair was struck on the helmet by Carse.
Rahul brought up his fifty before being dismissed by Josh Tongue. Pant then took over with an aggressive knock, hitting several boundaries and sixes.
