Varun Aaron Named SRH Bowling Coach

Varun Aaron, a former India fast-bowler, has been appointed as the new bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 35-year-old from Jharkhand had retired from representative cricket earlier this year.

Aaron's Cricketing Background

  • International Career: Aaron has 18 caps (9 Tests, 9 ODIs) and 29 wickets to his name.
  • IPL Experience: He played for 9 seasons (2011-2022) and represented 5 franchises, claiming 44 wickets at an economy of 8.93.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's Recent Performance

  • 2024 Season: Finished as runners-up.
  • 2025 Season: Finished 6th, despite posting the highest score of the season (286/6) against Rajasthan Royals in their tournament opener.

Coaching Change

Varun Aaron will link up with Sunrisers Hyderabad for his first major gig as a coach, replacing James Franklin who will be redesignated to another role in the franchise.
