
LA28 Cricket Schedule Unveiled: Games to Start Two Days Early
Cricket will kick off at the 2028 Olympic Games on July 12, two days ahead of the scheduled start of the Games. The medal matches are slated for July 19 and July 29.
The Los Angeles Olympics will officially run from July 14 to 30, 2028, but cricket and a few other events will begin on July 12 and 13, referred to as "Minus 2" and "Minus 1" respectively.
The first set of matches will take place from July 12 to 18, with the medal matches on July 19. The second set will run from July 22 to 28, culminating in the final on July 29.
The Fairgrounds Cricket Stadium in Pomona, about 48 kilometers from downtown LA, will host both men's and women's competitions, featuring six teams each. The stadium is a top-tier structure, purpose-built for cricket.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold its annual conference from July 17 to 20 in Singapore, where it will decide on the qualification process for the Games. The teams are likely to be decided based on ICC rankings, although there are suggestions that teams may be picked through a qualifying tournament.
