New Zealand Brush Aside Zimbabwe En Route to Second Win in Tri-Series

New Zealand notched up their second straight win in the T20I tri-series, defeating Zimbabwe by eight wickets in Harare on Friday (July 18). A clinical all-round performance saw Zimbabwe restricted to 120/7, with Matt Henry's 3 for 26 and tight spin bowling playing a key role.

Devon Conway led the chase with a composed 59 not out off 40, while Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell contributed to half-century stands. New Zealand reached the target inside 14 overs, with Conway and Ravindra putting on 50 runs for the second wicket.

Zimbabwe's innings was marked by a slow start, with Wessly Madhevere's 36 and Brian Bennett's 21 being the highlights. However, the hosts struggled to accelerate, with regular wickets and poor shot selection leading to a total of 120/7.

Brief scores:

  • Zimbabwe: 120/7 in 20 overs (Wessly Madhevere 36, Brian Bennett 21; Matt Henry 3-26, Rachin Ravindra 1-10)
  • New Zealand: 122/2 in 13.5 overs (Devon Conway 59*, Rachin Ravindra 30; Blessing Muzarabani 1-27)
