Bangladesh Ropes in Renowned Power-Hitting Coach Julian Wood
Julian Wood, a world-renowned power-hitting coach, is set to join Bangladesh's cricket team in August to help improve their range of shots ahead of the T20 Asia Cup in September.
Preparation Camp
The national cricketers will start their preparation camp on August 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Wood is expected to arrive before the start of the camp and will guide the players for three weeks.
Wood's Role
Wood, credited with transforming England's white-ball side, will focus on helping Bangladeshi cricketers use their power more efficiently. He believes that striking the ball is a major part of the game now and wants to give the players information on how to generate and use their power.
Sports Psychologist
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also planning to appoint a sports psychologist to help the cricketers deal with the mental side of the game. David Scott, who earlier worked with the High Performance Unit of Bangladesh, is expected to fill the post.
Bilateral Series
The BCB is in talks with several international sides, including Nepal and the Netherlands, to play a bilateral series as preparation for the Asia Cup.
