India take lead against England

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar put on an unbeaten 100-run stand to help India take the lead against England.

The pair batted defiantly after lunch, shrugging off the morning session's late jolts. They saw out a wicketless session, taking India into the lead.

England, who began the day as favourites, are now struggling to avoid a draw.

Jofra Archer and Liam Dawson bowled for England in the morning session, while Brydon Carse and Joe Root took over later. Despite England creating half-chances, they were unable to take a wicket.

Ben Stokes bowled a short spell despite discomfort in his shoulder and hamstring, but the Indian batters continued to score.

Washington Sundar reached his fifty with a six and a four, while Jadeja celebrated his own fifty with a boundary.

Brief Scores:

India 358 & 322/4 (Washington Sundar 58*, Ravindra Jadeja 53*; Chris Woakes 2-57) trail England 669 (Joe Root 150, Ben Stokes 141; Ravindra Jadeja 4-143) by 88 runs.
