Woakes Ruled Out of Remainder of Oval Test

Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the remainder of the fifth Test against India at the Oval due to a left shoulder injury sustained on the opening day.

The injury occurred while fielding in the 57th over of India's first innings, when Woakes chased after the ball and landed awkwardly, holding his left shoulder in distress.

England, already missing Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, will now have only three pace bowling options: Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson, and Jamie Overton.

Woakes, a workhorse for England all series, has featured in all five Tests, bowling 181 overs (more than anyone else across the two teams) and picking 11 wickets.
