Bangladesh Cricketers Undergo New Fitness Test

Several Bangladesh cricketers failed to meet expectations in a new fitness test held at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The test, introduced by new strength and conditioning coach Nathan Keily, involved a 1600-meter run and a 40-meter sprint.

Nahid Rana impressed, completing the 1600-meter run in 5 minutes and 31 seconds.

Other notable times:

  • Mehedi Hasan Miraz: 6 minutes and 1 second
  • Mushfiqur Rahim: 6 minutes and 10 seconds
  • Tanzim Hasan Sakib: 5 minutes and 53 seconds
  • Shahadat Hossain Dipu: 6 minutes
  • Parvez Hossain Emon: 6 minutes and 13 seconds

Pacer Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanvir Islam, and Shamim Patowary took nearly eight minutes to complete the 1600-meter run.

Six cricketers, including T20 captain Liton Kumar Das and Towhid Hridoy, missed the test. Four other players, part of the 'A' team tour of Australia, were also absent.

The fitness camp precedes skill training for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Netherlands and the Asia Cup in the UAE. Players will move to Sylhet on August 20 for skill training.
