Women's World Cup 2025: Bengaluru Games Shifted; Trivandrum Likely to Host

New Venue for Women's World Cup Matches

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to announce a new venue for the Women's World Cup matches originally scheduled for Bengaluru. Thiruvananthapuram is considered the favourite to host the displaced games.

Reason for Venue Change

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) failed to secure permission for the games, despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granting a two-day extension. The BCCI and the ICC expressed helplessness in waiting longer and told the KSCA that time is fast running out.

Impact on Schedule

The ICC may have to revise the schedule – in part or in full – due to the venue change. Chinnaswamy Stadium was initially allotted five games, including the inaugural match involving India on September 30.

Potential Alternatives

Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram are being considered as potential alternatives. Cricbuzz understands that chances of Kerala getting the matches are higher.

Teams Competing in the Women's World Cup

The eight competing teams for the Women's World Cup are:

  • Australia
  • England
  • South Africa
  • New Zealand
  • Bangladesh
  • Pakistan
  • Hosts India
  • Sri Lanka

Tournament Details

There are 31 games in all in the competition, including 28 league matches, two semifinals, and the final.
