BPL Fact-Finding Committee to Submit Preliminary Report by August 20

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) fact-finding committee is expected to submit its preliminary report to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) by August 20.

The committee, formed in February, was tasked with investigating integrity issues and corruption allegations in the BPL. The three-member committee, headed by former justice Mirza Hussain Haider, includes former cricketer Shakil Kasem and international lawyer Dr. Khaled H. Chowdhury.

The preliminary report will focus on recommended measures to address identified risks and prevent recurrence, including:

  • Franchise selection
  • Betting anomalies
  • Online gambling issues
  • Urgent interim measures
  • Essential reform in certain sectors

A comprehensive report, containing full evidentiary details, witness accounts, and further analysis, will be submitted within one month of the preliminary submission.

The committee conducted over 60 interviews with coaches, management, and players from all franchises, which were recorded, transcribed, and verified for accuracy. The committee also consulted with subject-matter experts in betting markets and with current and former ICC officials.

The report will provide the BCB with a complete factual basis for any subsequent action.
