India's World Cup Squad Announced

India has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025, with Renuka Thakur making a comeback after a long injury layoff.

Key Inclusions and Exclusions

  • Renuka Thakur returns to the squad after a foot injury, set to make her international comeback in the three-match ODI series against Australia in September.
  • Shafali Verma has been left out of the squad, despite receiving backing from head coach Amol Muzumdar.
  • Amanjot Kaur has been included in the squad but will be rested for the Australia ODIs due to a back niggle.
  • Sayali Satghare will replace Amanjot for the three-match Australia series.

New Faces in the Squad

  • Pratika Rawal has sealed the second opener's slot alongside vice-captain Smriti Mandhana.
  • Jemimah Rodrigues will make her maiden ODI World Cup appearance.
  • Harleen Deol, Amanjot, Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav, Sree Charani, and Kranti Goud are all set to make their World Cup debuts.

Schedule

  • India will kick off their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30.
  • The first-two ODIs of the three-match series against Australia will be played in Mullanpur on September 14 and 17 respectively, while the final game is slated for Delhi on September 20.
