India Cleared for Asia Cup Participation, but No Bilateral Cricket with Pakistan

The Government of India has made it clear that the national team will participate in the upcoming Asia Cup, despite growing calls for a boycott and withdrawal. However, there will be no bilateral cricket engagement with Pakistan.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs stated that India's approach to sports events involving Pakistan reflects its overall policy in dealing with the country. While Indian teams will not participate in bilateral competitions in Pakistan, nor will Pakistani teams be permitted to play in India, the country will participate in international and multilateral events guided by international sports bodies and the interests of Indian sportspersons.

The government's stand clears the uncertainty over India's participation in the Asia Cup, scheduled from September 9 to 28 in the UAE. The visa process for players and match officials is also set to be relaxed as India looks to host international sporting events, including the Olympics.
