Cheteshwar Pujara Announces Retirement from Indian Cricket
Cheteshwar Pujara, a stalwart of Indian cricket, has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The 37-year-old batter made the announcement on social media, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to wear the Indian jersey.
Pujara played 103 Tests and 5 ODIs for India, scoring 7,195 Test runs at an average of 43.60, with 19 hundreds and 35 fifties. He was a mainstay of the Indian top-order, particularly at home, where he averaged 52.58.
Some of his most notable performances include a double century against England in 2012, a 153 against South Africa in 2013, and a 145 in Colombo in 2015. He also played a crucial role in India's back-to-back series wins in Australia, including a historic first Test series win in 2018-19.
Pujara's last Test appearance was in the World Test Championship final against Australia in June 2023. He continued to play for Saurashtra and Sussex in the County Championship after that.
