
Shubman Gill Heads to CoE for Fitness Test Ahead of Asia Cup
Shubman Gill, India's Test captain and T20I vice-captain, has arrived in Bengaluru to undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy's Centre of Excellence (CoE) ahead of the Asia Cup. The mandatory assessment is required for all Asia Cup-bound players.
Gill was recently unwell and missed the Duleep Trophy inter-zonal red-ball competition. After recovering, he resumed practice in Chandigarh before flying to Bengaluru on Friday.
Indian Team Assembly and Practice Schedule
The Indian team will assemble in Dubai on September 4, with players flying separately from their respective bases. The first net session is scheduled for September 5, likely to be held at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
The team has been short on practice in the Twenty20 format, with most other teams already preparing for the Asia Cup. Pakistan, Afghanistan, and UAE are involved in a tri-series in Sharjah, while Sri Lanka are playing a bilateral series in Zimbabwe.
Asia Cup Schedule
The Asia Cup starts on September 9, with India's first match against UAE on September 10.
