2nd T20I Match Summary

Sri Lanka Stunned by Zimbabwe's Crushing Win

Sri Lanka's woes deepened as they were bowled out for a paltry 80 before hosts Zimbabwe chased down the target with ease.

Sri Lanka's batting collapse

Sri Lanka's top order struggled to cope with the Zimbabwean attack. Kusal Mendis was the first to go, edging the first ball of the second over to third man. Pathum Nissanka followed soon after, caught attempting a pull.

Blessing Muzarabani then took two wickets in four balls, dismissing Nuwanidu Fernando and Kamindu Mendis. Dasun Shanaka and Charith Asalanka shared a 26-run partnership, but it came at a high cost – 37 balls.

Asalanka was eventually dismissed looking to accelerate, and Chameera followed suit two balls later, leaving Sri Lanka reeling at 66/8.

Chameera's Triple-Strike

Dushmantha Chameera played a crucial role in Sri Lanka's collapse, taking three wickets in three balls to dismiss Tadiwanashe Marumani, Sean Williams, and Sikandar Raza.

Zimbabwe's chase to victory

Tadiwanashe Marumani got Zimbabwe off to a flier with a couple of boundaries in the second over, but Chameera soon struck twice in three balls to reduce Zimbabwe to 29/3 at the end of the PowerPlay.

A 26-run stand between Ryan Burl and Brian Bennett helped Zimbabwe ease their nerves, and Tashinga Musekiwa sealed the win with a 21-run blitz off just 14 balls.

Brief Scores

Sri Lanka 80 all-out in 17.4 overs (Kamil Mishara 20; Sikandar Raza 3-11, Brad Evans 3-15)
Zimbabwe 84/5 in 14.2 overs (Ryan Burl 22*, Tashinga Musekiwa 21*; Dushmantha Chameera 3-19)
