Hampshire Sign Washington for Final Two County Games

Hampshire have signed Indian allrounder Washington Sundar for their final two County Championship fixtures.

Background

Hampshire were docked eight points following a Cricket Discipline Panel decision related to their Championship fixture against Sussex in May. They were fined and had points deducted for preparing a sub-standard pitch.

Impact on Relegation

The points deduction has put Hampshire closer to the relegation zone. They now face a challenging task in their remaining two fixtures against Somerset and Surrey.

Washington's Inclusion

The 25-year-old Washington Sundar, who was part of the Indian Test squad in England, will join Hampshire for the crucial games. He made 284 runs at an average of 47 in the series against England.

Director of Cricket's Comments

"We're delighted to bring Washington to the club for the County Championship," said Giles White, Director of Cricket. "He had an excellent series against England this summer and he'll play a key role with two big games coming up against Somerset and Surrey."
