Edwards, McSweeney take Australia A to 350 despite Suthar fifer
Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar took 5 wickets for 93 runs as Australia A reached 350/9 at stumps on the opening day of the second unofficial Test in Lucknow.
Jack Edwards top-scored with 88 off 78 balls, striking 11 fours and a six. Skipper Nathan McSweeney made 74.
Australia A lost Campbell Kellaway early for 9, caught by Sai Sudharsan off Prasidh Krishna. Sam Konstas made 49 before Mohammed Siraj had him caught by N Jagadeesan.
McSweeney and Josh Philippe put on a half-century stand, but McSweeney fell to Gurnoor Brar and Philippe to Suthar.
Edwards led the charge with his brisk knock, taking Australia A past 300. Suthar added the wickets of Will Sutherland and Corey Rocchiccioli to complete his five-wicket haul.
Australia A were 274/8 before Edwards and Todd Murphy added 55 runs for the ninth wicket. Edwards fell to Brar for 88, but Murphy and Henry Thornton added an unbroken 21-run stand.
