Matt Henry back for West Indies ODIs

Matt Henry returns to the New Zealand side for the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Henry had recently missed the last two ODIs against England with a calf strain and is undergoing rehabilitation to prepare for the ODI and following Test series.

Blair Tickner, who earned back-to-back Player of the Match awards against England in the second and third ODIs, retains his spot in the squad. Tickner took eight wickets in two games at an average of 12.25. Before that series, he hadn't featured for New Zealand in ODIs since 2023.

New Zealand's injury list includes Mohammad Abbas (ribs), Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O'Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Ben Sears (hamstring), all unavailable. Kane Williamson was not considered as he prepares for the Test series starting December 2.

Head coach Rob Walter welcomed Henry's return and praised Tickner: "Matt is a vital member of this group and the senior leader of our pace attack. It'll be great to have him back around the group for the ODIs and Tests. He will be fresh and fit after a good rest, and we know he'll be raring to go ahead of a big five weeks with the white and red ball.

"We couldn't have asked for more from Ticks against England. He brought plenty of energy and his pace and bounce proved to be a big test for some of the best batters in the world. It was pleasing to see him come in at short notice and perform at that level, and that's a testament to the hard work he's been putting in away from the group."

New Zealand will aim to extend their run of 10 consecutive ODI series wins after their 3-0 sweep of England. The ODI series begins on November 16 in Christchurch, with matches on November 19 in Napier and November 22 in Hamilton.
