BCCI raises Asia Cup issue at ICC meet

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the ICC meetings in Dubai on Friday, despite earlier doubts about his participation.

During the ICC Board meeting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) raised the issue of the Asia Cup trophy. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, representing India, pointed out that Naqvi, in his capacity as Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman, was retaining the trophy which rightfully belongs to India as tournament winners.

The discussion was informal in nature, taking place during casual conversations among board members. The BCCI's position is that the trophy should be handed over to India immediately.

The trophy remains locked in the ACC office in Dubai, with instructions from Naqvi that it cannot be moved without his authorization. This follows India's victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final on September 28.

While no formal panel has been confirmed to address the issue, there was reportedly consensus among ICC Board members that the matter should be resolved promptly.
