Nelson T20I abandoned due to rain

The fourth T20I between New Zealand and West Indies was abandoned due to rain at Saxton Oval in Nelson, with only 39 balls of play possible. New Zealand now have an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series, with one game remaining.

West Indies were put in to bat by Mitchell Santner, but drizzle began after just two deliveries. Alick Athanaze hit a four and a six off Kyle Jamieson, and Amir Jangoo added a boundary before the first rain interruption.

After a 30-minute break, play resumed with no overs lost, but James Neesham dismissed Athanaze within two deliveries. Rain returned more heavily in the following over, leading to a halt and eventual washout.

The final match of the series will be played in Dunedin on Thursday (November 13).

Brief Scores: West Indies 38/1 in 6.3 overs (Alick Athanaze 21, Amir Jangoo 12*; James Neesham 1-5) vs New Zealand – match abandoned due to rain
